Allison & Rob - Utica, NY (take 2)

Did I forget to mention that Chris and I had a great time on Saturday with Allison & Rob? Because I definitely did not mean to leave THAT out! ;-) We really did... it was a perfectly beautiful day with a very sweet couple with very fun guests and just beautiful details throughout. So, here is a glimpse of some of the lovely couple and their guests. The album pre-design will be up late next week. Have a great honeymoon!

Allison & Rob - Utica, NY

Okay, my in-laws are visiting, and I am sneaking trips upstairs to look at these images because I am so excited to look at them!! I have only glanced at the getting-ready pics thus far, but I just LOVE these! Check out those shoes. I am sure there will be more preview to post tomorrow after I look through more of the day.

Kelly & Phil's Engagement

Yesterday, Chris and I headed out to Paul Smith's College for an engagement session with Kelly & Phil, who are both graduates of the college. Kelly won this session at the Lake Placid Bridal Show this past January, and they will be getting married on August 25 at John Brown's Farm with reception at the Hotel Saranac... This made me think of Joanna & Mike that were married at the farm on August 26 last year with reception at the hotel... strange. :-) At any rate, Chris and I really enjoyed getting to know this sweet couple a little, and we wish them the very best for their wedding and marriage!

Lauriana Hayward

Yesterday, I met up with award-winning journalist Lauriana Hayward at her house outside Plattsburgh, NY for her photo session. Hayward has a young adult novel, published by Penguin, coming out in June 2008, so she needed some images to use for her headshot, as well as for publications. We will have a second session this August in downtown Plattsburgh for more urban images. These images here were taken in an apple orchard and in her front yard.

My brother's wedding!!

My oldest (of my 3) brother got married this past weekend in Durham, North Carolina at the Windy Oaks Inn. Chris and I have not been guests at a wedding since before we were married, so it was a little bit surreal to be able to use my other senses at the wedding. Typically, I am so focused (no pun intended) on the sights at a wedding that I don't hear what is going on, I don't smell the flowers or taste the cake and I definitely never touch anything (on purpose anyway). So, it was an adjustment to just sit there and enjoy being with my family and my new family... I just adore Katy, my new sister-by-marriage, and I could not be happier that my brother married her! They are just made for each other... seriously, not another couple in the world makes us laugh so much.

But, of course, I had to take SOME pictures, even if I wasn't the hired professional (and thank God I wasn't). So, here are some of the newlyweds, my parents, the beautiful flowers, the adorable cake, their dog/ring-bearer and me doing my special not-so-pig-latin-after-all reading!! Enjoy!

Josh Cramoy Band Shoot

On Saturday evening, Chris (my trusty assistant) and I met up with the Josh Cramoy Band and Carolyn and Dave Cramoy (quite possibly our favorite mother and father of the bride ever) at the Saranac Lake train station. Josh & Jeremiah are Samantha's brothers; we photographed her wedding on our first anniversary last September 17. Anyway, we really had a great time with the band, especially since they were up for all of my ideas, even if it meant climbing up on a rusty, sketchy fire escape. ;-) Here are a few shots that caught my eye...

sneaky peak

we are getting a new site! no, we are not getting rid of our current one, as we know you all love it. the business for portraits is starting to pick up, and i am hoping to run an ad campaign in the local papers for a few weeks for children's portraits (NOT family reunions). anyway, the current site was just a little crammed, not to mention a little formal for the messy & fun kids (and authors/musicians/models) i love to photograph! so, we have a new one... and we are shifting the current one to be completely dedicated to weddings, engagements and those lovely bridal portraits.

the new site is under serious construction (choosing images, music, colors, text, etc), but it should launch in a week or two. in the meantime, if you want a sneak peak... click here and then click on 'portraits.' any feedback is greatly accepted!

Alyse's Bridal Portrait - Asheville, NC

Yesterday afternoon, I finished my stretch of 11 sessions in 10 days in the South with my June 2 bride Alyse (back to New York on Sunday and back to desk work on Tuesday). We met at the Arboretum with the threat of rain hanging over our heads the entire session. Fortunately, we completely missed the rain, but we played with the large umbrella anyway. Alyse has such a classic beauty that I just love so many of these images; she looks like a Greek goddess! :-) Thank you, Alyse. I had so much fun with you, your mom and your future mother-in-law!
